Music Mondays is a summer event in the park in downtown Gresham. Music is a fusion of voice, harmonics, and instruments. These elements come together to unite our community. Music in the park is an expression of who we are as a community of forest dwellers.
We bring our chairs and find just the perfect place to create a makeshift living room in the park. We hunker down ready to feast on satisfying sounds and symmetry. The music begins with light shades of notes building rhythm blending into one voice.
A huge pine sits center stage in the park. The branches at the top of the old pine gently move with the slightest breeze as birds gracefully glide across the sky. Our senses heighten in surrender as we relax into the music.
A slight cooling moves across the park. The sun begins to hold back its heat allowing the music to draw us into this outdoor Abbey. Our community is an extended family because we belong to each other. Our city thrives because we share a commonality, each of us are individual grace notes moving our city toward harmony.
Let’s imagine for a moment what music in God’s community will sound like. Come with me!
A radiant, otherworldly light emanates from the Father into infinity. Cherubim and Seraphim dance in the light above the Throne. All order of angels sing to God with notes never heard by mankind before this moment. God invites us to the feast because we are part of the fraternity of heaven. Surrounded by new music the congregation moves into God’s cathedral for celebration. We never imagined such love.
Our heavenly Father created a multitude of ways for us to see and hear Him through His Word, church, nature, music, imagination, and community. Whether we want to know Him is a matter of choice. Many say they believe. Few choose to solicit a personal relationship with the Most High.
Our world lobbies to take God out of schools, courtrooms, or to remove a simple cross on a hill symbolizing love. The world has officially issued an invitation for God to leave. What do you think will happen if the Most High grants the world’s request? History repeats itself. Mankind will walk into the wilderness alone without manna and without God.
There is power in faith and prayer that will not be defined by human measure. Faith unlocks grace notes in the Bible. Believers gain strength, unity, and relationship with the Most High through the Word because knowledge, peace, and joy dwell there.
God lives! He loves you. Give God a chance. Get to know Him. We either invite the Most High in, or we invite Him to leave; there is no middle ground. Before making that choice, listen to His voice. God dwells in harmony, and in a symphony of wisdom within His Word. Listen to what He wrote… just stop and take it in!
