Navy Veteran, Businessman, Songwriter And Patriot
July 9, 1942 – April 25, 2017

Mack’s gone from us. However, he had a life that clearly had an positive impact on many people’s lives that will carry on.
Navy Veteran –
Mack served in the Navy for 25 years. He completed two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Among his honors, he was awarded the Purple Heart. He then influenced a number of lives over a period of years as a recruiter for the military. He stayed in touch and encouraged many of them as their own lives unfolded.
Businessman –
Mack owned his own real estate company in Canby. He sold both residential and commercial properties. Throughout his career he got to know many people. He was part of many people realizing their dream of owning their own property.
Mack, because of his love of our country, never stopped fighting for preserving the values he believed that were foundational to our Republic. He spent his time and his resources by being involved in public policy over the years. He appeared at many Clackamas County meetings and lobbied legislators. He had a particular concern about those issues that directly applied to active military personnel and veterans.
Songwriter –
Mack avidly wrote songs and poems. Gospel singer Betty Jean Robinson recorded one of Mack’s compositions On Silver Wings. This song is available on youtube.com.
Among Mack’s poems are:
The Veteran
It is the Veteran, not the reporter,
Who has given us the freedom of the press,
It is the veteran, not the poet,
Who has given us the freedom of speech,
It is the Veteran, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate,
It is the Veteran, not the politician,
Who has given us the freedom to vote.
Mack had words concerning the sacrifices of our military.
The Sacrifice:
It is the Veteran
Who salutes the flag,
And serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag.

  • We are grieving Mack today. He disappeared some time ago. We’re so sorry we didn’t get to say a final goodbye.

  • I grew up with Mack and recently tried to get ahold of him not knowing of his passing. He had visited me in Ar. not long before his death and planned to be back soon. He was a wonderful person.
